Overview

About the Department

The Department of Assamese is one of the leading departments of Dr. Nobin Bordoloi College under Dibrugarh University, with a proud heritage of serving students and contributing to society and culture through academic excellence. It began its journey in 1994-95 teaching the Modern Indian Language (MIL, Assamese), and has offered Major courses in Assamese at degree level since 2002 and CBCS (Honours) since 2019. The department currently delivers the FYUGP under NEP-2020 with Major and Minor, and remains devoted to Assamese language, literature and culture.

Vision

The department is committed to providing superior quality education — developing the individual skills of students, deepening their knowledge of Assamese art, culture and literature, and building human resources through enlightened education. It strives to deliver quality-oriented teaching that brings out the potential of students and fosters a comprehensive understanding of the subject.
