Overview
The Department of Economics at Dr. Nobin Bordoloi College has been shaping students since 1986, offering BA (Major & Minor) — FYUGP under Dibrugarh University. The department is currently led by Mr. Utpal Bordoloi.
Infrastructure
Purpose
To make the students self-dependent and eco-friendly by imparting knowledge in Economics in local and global perspective.
Engagement
Field Survey, Seminar, Popular Talk, Career Counselling Programmes, Plantation Programme etc. are organized by the department from time to time.
Timeline
Green Earth
The Department organised its annual Green Earth (Seuji Dharani) plantation programme at Gohain Gobindpur, the college's adopted village. Faculty, students and villagers jointly planted saplings around the village Namghar.
Green Earth
In collaboration with the Forest Department, Jorhat, the department launched the Green Earth (Seuji Dharani) plantation programme, promoting environmental conservation and ecological awareness.

Held at Bamun Kohar Gaon. Despite COVID-19 restrictions, the plantation drive promoted afforestation under the leadership of the Principal.

The Eco Club, the Department and IQAC jointly observed World Environment Day 2023 through a plantation programme at Gobindapur, the college's adopted village.

An MoU was signed with the Department of Economics, Bahona College, for collaborative and cooperative academic effort of mutual benefit to students and faculty.
MoU with Cinnamara College
An MoU was signed with the Department of Economics, Cinnamara College. Under it, a joint field survey on the Socio-Economic Study of Blacksmithy was conducted at Karanga, Jorhat, on 20 October 2022.
Joint MoU — Economics, Education & Assamese
A collaborative field survey was conducted at Deopahar and the Kaziranga National Orchid Park, Golaghat, studying employment generation and cultural preservation.
Shilpi Divas
Celebrated jointly with the Departments of Assamese and Education, in association with IQAC, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Jyoti Prasad Agarwala.
Departmental Library
Maintains a departmental library offering subject-specific books and reference materials for students and faculty.
Tutorial Classes
Conducted during the odd semester to support weaker students and provide individual attention.
State Level Student Workshop
Jointly organised with the Departments of Assamese and Education on “Writing Research Paper and Plagiarism Awareness” under their MoU.
Parent-Teacher Meet
Held to bridge the communication gap between parents and the department and discuss students' academic performance and career prospects.
Distribution of Textbooks to Students
Faculty members provided textbooks to economically underprivileged students from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd semesters.
One Day Students' Workshop
On “Preparation of Seminar Paper and Project Report”, with practical training on research writing, APA referencing, in-text citation and plagiarism awareness.
Mentor-Mentee Programme
A comprehensive initiative addressing the academic, personal and professional needs of students.
International Symposium on Earth Day
Jointly organised with the Department of Geography and IQAC, featuring an expert lecture on environmental protection and sustainable development.
